Controling window shutters with infrared remote control
The window shutter switch was inaccessible. A simple solution is to control it with a standard infrared TV remote control. The circuit is quite minimalistic with just two relays, one atmega8 @ 2 MHz and the infrared receiver TSOP1730. No capacitors, resistors or other components were used. The controls used on the TV remote are: Up, Down: Which will activate the respective relay for 42 seconds (the time the shutter needs to fully close/open). Left, Right: For more accuracy these will activate each relay until the button is released. Center button: To stop the shutter moving (in order to cancel Up/Down commands). Now I can finally control the window shutter without having to climb on my desk.
